The first full week of January is being rainy…typical for this time of the year. However, the rain provides ample opportunities around the yard for photos – an excellent time to capture the beauty of plants in a rain rich environment.
Today’s subject is Heather…we have both the white flowering and the pink flowering kind. The white flowering heather is in bloom now and the pink flowering heather will arrive in the spring. The white flowering heather is one of the earliest bloomers around the yard. And, as the winter closes and spring is beginning, the bumble bees will come out and feast on what nectar there is from the flowering heather plants. Later, if there’s enough heather flowers (white or pink), mead will be made and will be enjoyed the next year.
